Stop the Vape Juice Flavour Ban! Sign the Petition
Thousands of Canadians have made the switch from tobacco smoking to the less harmful vaping as a means to reduce harm and save money in the process. For many it was difficult, but thanks to the evolution of vape devices throughout the years and the variety of flavours, many were able to make the switch and stay switched.
Health Canada views flavoured vape juice as way to entice youth into vaping, but where do we draw the line? Do we ban sugar in candies because it entices children to consume sweets which can lead to its own myriad of health issues? Do we ban flavour enhancers because it entices youth to consume potato chips and snacks which can lead to obesity which later on down the line can result in heart issues?
The real issue is education and proper parenting to youths in addition to regulation of vaping products. If we properly educate youth about the dangers of vaping nicotine, and educate parents also so they can monitor their children and stop them from vaping, adults can continue to enjoy flavours while vaping.
Tobbaco Smoke contains thousands of chemical of which at least 70 are known to be carcinogenic (causing cancer). Vaping does contain some toxic substances, but the levels are 9-450 times lower compared to tobacco smoke.
Furthermore,
By making flavours available, tobacco smokers can make the switch to vaping much easier and can stay switched. They can then lower their nicotine gradually overtime until they are free of nicotine. Nicotine is known to constrict blood vessels and cause an increase in blood pressure, heart rate. Nicotine can also contribute to the hardening of the arterial walls which can contribute to the risk of a heart attack. The object is to gradually reduce nicotine over time and be free from nicotine, and vaping gives this opportunity thanks to the variety of strengths available.
Many people fail on the patch because patches drop users drastically from different levels of nicotine and they dont provide the hand to mouth satisfaction that vaping does. By keeping flavours, we can ensure tobacco smokers can make the switch more easily and existing vapers can continue to stay switched.
